Edmund de Waal — V&A

Made to mark the opening of the magnificent new ceramic gallery at the V&A, Signs & Wonders is a remarkable installation and is certainly worthy of a special visit.

‘Edmund de Waal is both an artist and an historian of ceramics. He has also been a visitor to the ceramics galleries at the V&A since he was a child. Signs & Wonders — the largest commission of its type in recent years — is his response to the V&A's collection. In its sweep are reflected those areas that have most stimulated his interest — the early Chinese celadons, experimental European porcelain and the products of early twentieth century modernism.’ Mark Jones Director of the Victoria and Albert Museum
