Southern & Partners is an independent artist management consultancy specialising in the visual arts. Working with contemporary artists and artists’ estates, they build on their many years of experience and strong institutional and commercial relationships to help artists navigate the increasingly complex landscape of contemporary art. They take a tailored approach to each artist's needs, and work in close consultation with them to create opportunities and advance their long term goals.
Offering an alternative to the traditional gallery-based model of artist representation, they are focused on their relationships with artists rather than fixated on individual works. They provide a more holistic approach to managing an artist’s career that is adapted to the new directions the art world is taking, and currently work with artists including Bill Viola, Fujiko Nakaya, Hughie O’Donoghue, Elias Sime, Bill Fontana and Michael Simpson.
We have created their identity, a restrained and lucid structure based on a typographic mark that merges the initials G and S into a distinctive, ownable shape. This is supplemented by a colour scheme with neutral elements accentuated by sophisticated blue and green shades, and a pared-back approach to the secondary typography.
